[HOS] More Details on the All New Ports of Skull at Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Howl-O-Scream!

Just when you think you're finished up with news about Howl-O-Scream they go and give ya even more details. While I've covered mostly everything in the Mega Post for BGW's event, it would seem that they have a bit more for us.

This time it's all about the new Ports of Skull Terror-tory that's coming for the 2013 season. It's been a while since the park featured pirates in any way, but they're definitely trying to make amends for that.

So, without further ado, here's what we've got for Port of Skull in addition to past info on this new addition and all the others for this year's Howl-O-Scream...

The brand new themed gift shop, Captain Barghbie’s Booty, will be taking the place of Bella Casa Gifts in the San Marco section of Italy. It's not just putting new merchandise in either, they're going all out with this one:
“We’re very excited about how the store is going to look,” said Phil Barbie, the park’s merchandise director and the store’s reluctant namesake. “It’s going to be like you’re actually on a boat. You walk into one area and it feels like you’re in the belly of the ship. In another spot we’ve filled the captain’s quarters with treasure. “
So in place of all the Italian goods and trinkets, you'll expect to see quite the different line up from this one this year. I rather support this...pirate's kinda in my blood. The shop will have a vast ocean of new riches to offer, including nautical-themed gifts that are perfect for the whole year as well as pirate-themed plunder for purchase.
“There are going to be great toys for kids including pirate toys and some dress-up accessories to help you transform into a fearsome pirate,” said Barbie. "“We’re also offering gold by the inch, so you can pick your chain and a charm. Since it’s by the inch, you can decide whether or not you want something a little more fitted or more of a pendant.”
That's not all though, they've added in more face painters to help guests immerse themselves in the frightening worlds created in the Terror-tories. The store will also have artists on hand “so pirates young and old can come and get their faces transformed.”

Real gold, stuff for the kids and face painting? Already sounding like they've got a good grasp on this one. Of course you'll still be able to get the iconic Capodimonte jewelry and sculptures, including the famous “eyeball rose”.

However, the next bit from today's press release is definitely one that's peaked my interest...
During the day, guests can still enjoy wine tastings. In the evenings, guests can enjoy a selection of rum-based drinks.
Rum based drinks you say? Color me very interested indeed! Then again, you can't really have a pirate themed area without the rum now can you?

Overall it seems that Busch Gardens Williamsburg is really doing their best to breathe some new life into this year's event in any way they can find. I like that and they're not just half assing the new scare zones by the sounds of it either. They really are trying to bring them up to the level we've all grown to love and expect from this park. Here's to hoping the results in person are just as impressive as they sound.

Here's to hoping for more detailed information about the other new Terror-tories that are coming to this year's event. Make sure to check back often as more details are unearthed!

+Carrie H.C. and I, along with +Donal von Griffyn, will be in attendance for opening night on Friday, September 13th to live tweet and post to Google+ our experience as well!
