[Manga]/New Girls und Panzer and Strike Witches in 2014!

Seven Seas Entertainment has announced that they're picking up Girls und Panzer and Strike Witches for new manga stories that are scheduled for release in 2014. This is definitely welcome news to both of these huge franchises and is a testament to their staying power. Sure, Girls und Panzer is fairly new, but it just goes to show that when you mix moe and the military in just the right way, you can't go wrong.

Both of these series are favorites around here and while Seven Seas did also announce that they would be picking up Arpeggio of Blue Steel as well, we've decided to focus just on Girls und Panzer and Strike Witches. If you want to read more just head on over to Crunchyroll and get all the details there of all three releases.

These two franchises have a ton of potential and there's a lot of stories that can definitely be told as their world's really haven't been touched on fully in a lot of ways either.

Anyway, onto the announcements!

Strike Witches has become a massive franchise, spanning novels, manga, video games, anime and other merchandising. The franchise has received two anime seasons, along with a movie that premiered in Japan last year. North American anime distributor FUNimation has released both seasons on home-video.

Strike Witches: Maidens in the Sky Vol. 1 will be released in February 2014. Volume 2 will follow in April 2014, and further related titles in the Strike Witches franchise will be released in summer and fall.

This is definitely welcome news and considering that the Stirke Witches movie that came out last year left things open ended enough, one can only hope that they'll decide to do another movie or even series. That and there's definitely enough material out there from several sources that can be tapped or added onto without much issue. Personally, I'm hoping that they go into some of the other fighter groups a bit more as their stories haven't really been told fully enough yet.

of course this is what they go with...I mean what else would you expect from the War of Pants?

Now, Girls und Panzer had a bit more of an interesting piece of news floating about...it appears that there will be a feature length movie coming to theaters in 2014 as well as the new manga series.

Girls und Panzer has been adapted into an anime, which aired last fall in Japan and is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. In addition, Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and will release it on home-video later this year. The anime has also spawned a theatrical animated film, which is set to debut in 2014.
Seven Seas will publish the first volume of the Girls und Panzer manga series in June 2014, with volume two to follow in September 2014.
In Fall, 2014, Seven Seas will launch the series prequel Girls und Panzer: Little Army.

So, there ya have it...again, we're definitely looking forward to seeing how things progress with both of these series and also greatly intrigued by the prequel to Girls und Panzer and just what that will reveal.

Stay tuned for more news as we get it!
