[Haunt Tour] Behind the Scenes - 160miles Down

Well, so far this year has been an interesting one and we're just one weekend into things. A little different than normal, we decided to kick off with a haunt that's local to +Carrie H.C. and I, Hundred Acres Manor.

The reason that's unusual is that for the past few years we've been in Virginia for Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg to start things off. However, this year they moved their opening date back to later in the month, and we couldn't do much about that. So, instead of waiting, I felt it would be an interesting experiment to see just what our Best Overall Haunt winner for the past two years could do on their opening night.

I'll say this, they didn't disappoint at all. It was a great show, and the new additions and cast members are already off to a great start. I'll have more on that in the review, after I finish it and editing the video and pictures from the trip. Shouldn't be too much longer though.

Aside from the show itself, I just love the people at Hundred Acres too. They're all amazingly passionate about what they do and that's just infectious. Because of that? It was the right call to start things off and get my brain in right state of mind.

Sadly, didn't get to have Carrie along for the ride, but that's okay. It did feel weird not having her there, but at the same time I know that we'll be back for multiple visits this year. Why? Well, they have a lot going on for the 2015 season and there's just no way we can do it all in one shot. There's a couple of other things that we didn't get to try last year, which we're going to attempt with them as well. Should be interesting to see how that works out in the long run.

I did try to do some new things while there too with some mixed results. Firstly, the whole Periscope thing kind of crashed and burned but that's because my phone decided it was going to go all absent minded on me. I'll try to work out the kinks out of that for the future. Also, managed to record one of the quick cuts in the car after, I have no idea how that turned out yet, but hopefully it's decent quality and that'll go up on the new YouTube channel we have running in the near future.

Oh, and finally, should have the podcast review recorded here and out very soon as well. Still working out a time to do that, but I don't think it'll be too much longer there. I've heard the intro and everything now too, so definitely looking forward to sharing those with you as they happen.

Right now it's just a matter of making preparations for the second weekend, and finishing up the coverage from Hundred Acres Manor before we head to Philadelphia to visit Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary and then up to Allentown for another trip through Dorney Park's Halloween Haunt.

So, right then, that's that for the first installment of a behind the scenes look at things. I'll be doing a lot more of this as the season progresses, so keep an eye out as you never know just what'll happen!
