[Anime]/Viz Announces that Ranma 1/2 is Coming Back!

Well, okay...it's not a remake of the series or anything that new. However, Viz was on hand at Otakon this past weekend and it's there that they made the announcement that Ranma 1/2 would be be returning to the world once more.

How exactly? Well it will be coming to Neon Alley, DVD, Blu-ray and and will also stream on VizAnime.com. This is definitely big news as it's the first time that Ranma is being offered in North America on Blu-ray. Viz was responsible for the original 161ep VHS run back in the mid-90's in North America, but this will be a welcome addition to old and new fans alike!

Along with this, there will be a reprinting of the manga series as well. According to their Anime Expo announcement, the new version will read right to left for the first time in a North American release, and will be released in an omnibus format featuring two volumes in each omnibus. The first volume will ship on March 11, 2014 and will retail for US$14.99. Viz Media will release new volumes every two months.

This is definitely good news for all of the fans of what was once the world's most popular anime and manga series.

Want more? Sure ya do! It's also been made known that there's Ranma programming is being added to this year's New York Comic Con. What exactly will that be? No clue yet, but I'm suspecting some pretty big news in addition to this recent announcement.

Stay tuned as I'll be following this one rather closely!
