[Haunts]/Knott's Scary Farm 2013 Details Unearthed!

Today at Scare LA, the Knott's Berry Farm crew revealed all the details about this year's upcoming Knott's Scary Farm event. Lots of interesting tidbits were announced, all new mazes and a few interesting firsts for the event as well. All in all, the 41st Scary Farm event looks to be even better than last year's, even if they have scaled down a bit.

Remember kids, it's quality, not quantity that makes a halloween event great and there's definitely such thing as "too much of a good thing" as past year's have shown at Knott's. They've learned their lesson on this and are committed to bring more high quality experiences from here on out.

This year is said to boast 10-12 mazes and 6 scare zones along with 6 shows as well. It's easy to see how the "grand daddy" of Halloween Events can keep up with Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Let's see what tricks they have up their sleeves for this this year's event!

One of this year's big announcements at their panel during this weekend's Scare LA? Skeleton Key.

This will allow those brave enough to dive deeper into five select mazes and promises "more gore, fright and backstories" for them as well. Secret rooms and other terrifying additions await.

The park's front of the line passes, Fright Lane, will be sold with a Skeleton Key upgrade to it which gives guests front of the line access to all of the mazes in the park as well as the 5 Skeleton Key mazes. Which mazes will be part of this new promotion aren't 100% known just yet, but that information will be coming out in the very near future.

In addition to this, an all new scare zone has been added for this year's event. Village of the Dead is set to take over the Fiesta Village are and will be a full blown Dia De Los Muertos party! This all new scare zone promises to be themed to the nines and be one helluva undead party that you'll never forget!

Along with this all this, Elvira will be starring in her own show at the park once again with "Elvira's Sinema Seance". It's great to see the return of this Halloween icon after a 10 year hiatus and there will be a Meet and Greet session after every show for her fans.

I'm not sure if this is something they did last year, but it was mentioned during the panel and is a nice touch that I'm sure her legions of followers will appreciate.

That's not all though, there's plenty of new experiences coming to the park this year...read on to find out more!

As far as the other houses go, here's the run down for what to expect from a few of the other all new mazes debuting at this year's Scary Farm:

Return to the Old West and walk in the bloody footsteps of a betrayed and left for dead gunslinger on his path to retribution against a corrupt township. This journey back in time takes guests on a trail of terror through abandoned gold mines, a treacherous corral, a seedy saloon and a final showdown at town hall.

During the Scare LA panel it was revealed that Gunslinger's Grave is their first ever Cowboy maze and was described as an indoor for indoor outdoor for outdoor maze.

The veil between the living and the dead is severed when Houdini’s ghost materializes during a séance and ushers a host of demonic illusions to play tricks on anyone who intrudes on his theatre. From the prop room to the main stage, this dilapidated theatre will make visitors skin crawl. Will you be part of the disappearing act?

Interesting concept and while they didn't go into more detail about this during their Scare LA panel, it's safe to say that this will be up there with the level of terror that they've brought about in previous years.

Follow in the footsteps of the darkly troubled writer Edgar Allan Poe through a nightmare conjured up by a modern madman. Each of Poe's bloodsoaked and terror-filled tales will envelope you in their insanity and horror. Page by page you will descend deeper into the subconscious of the man who invented American horror.

Forevermore is gothic horror with a modern day twist.
Will you escape?
Or will you remain in the horror Forevermore...?

Forevermore will be THE goriest maze according to the crew that was at the Scare LA panel as well.

Enter a world where madness is just a looking glass away. What is real and what is an illusion? A cursed mirror absorbs everyone into a mechanical wasteland of despair. Hideous creatures of beauty and horror stalk the mirror world, hoping to draw another victim into a nightmarish labyrinth where you might just get lost forever..

Necropolis.

Mirror Mirror is being touted as the parks "first modern day actual "get lost inside" maze". I'm not sure what that means, but I have a feeling it's something along the lines of an actual maze that you have to find your way out of. Always an interesting idea and the few I've been to were quite insane, so this should turn out to be pretty good.

Additionally two mazes will be coming back this year, but with major overhauls to their themes and layouts in order to make them longer and more terrifying than ever before.

The Blood Queen’s rule has ended as she goes to regenerate after her long reign. In the new cycle ancient vampire lore decrees there shall always be one to rule the damned... Long live the King!

Yes, you've experienced Dominion of the Dead, but you've never seen anything like Dominion of the Damned. All new layout, all new scares - it's a new vision of horror.

Trapped: The New Experiment- there's a certain room so terrifying that the designers themselves have vowed to never enter. It's also been announced that this maze will be much longer than last year's as well.

So, there's all of the "new, new" additions to this year's Scary Farm. However, that's not all! A few past mazes are returning this year as well:

The world as we know it has ended. The survivors in this barren desert have scavenged to rebuild society. Few are safe. The rich and powerful have turned all others into slaves for sport. Enter the post apocalyptic arena where the gladiators are forced to battle to their deaths for entertainment...and the games will be televised.

Endgames returns with all new scares. Look for a new path of destruction and unseen horrors.

Folks from near and far come a-runnin’ for Farmer Willy’s world famous BBQ! Why you can smell the sizzling meat all the way from the interstate! Just take Exit I-13 and follow your nose!

Venture through the Slaughterhouse where Uncle Willy will feed you full of BBQ, slather you with special sauce, tenderize you with his chainsaw, and grind you into a tasty meat treat. Bone appetite!

Several years after the blue fairy denies him his final wish, Pinocchio erupts in a wild killing spree, where he and his army of murderous marionettes seek the flesh from his former masters to cover his twisted, wooden body.

Revenge comes with no strings attached.

Think you know the whole story? Think again. Pinocchio Unstrung returns for 2013 with more surprises, more twists and turns....and more insanity. Be careful what you wish for...

Trick or treat, which will it be? Step forward and ring the witch’s doorbell. Oh, she is home, but where? You are not quite sure. Don’t be afraid, her minions will guide you.

I am sure that the tales of the many Hallows Eve victims are just that. You can come away with a treat, but is it worth it?

So, there ya have it...everything that we know of which is coming to this year's Knott's Scary Farm. Looking good at this point and as more details are revealed in the coming weeks we'll be sure to bring them to you!
