[Haunts]/Three All New Mazes at Kings Island's Halloween Haunt!

Well, there's been so much going on lately with every haunt out there that I seem to have skipped over a bit of news that's come out in the past week. This time? Kings Island in Mason, OH. Not only have we attended their Halloween Haunt event back in 2011 (which we found to be great fun), but we were just there as part of an InSanity lurks Inside park review in June too.

Anyway, back on July 26th and 28th, Kings Island confirmed on Twitter that they would have three all new mazes for this year's event (not that the headline didn't give that away or anything). So, what are they? Well...here it is straight from the mouth of ghouls...
"New attractions for Halloween Haunt 2013 include Board to Death, Delta Delta Die & Backwoods Bayou." They also said that a few of their annual mazes would be going by the wayside to make room, "Halloween Haunt attractions Massacre Manor, Mysteria and Cut Throat Cove have been retired and will be replace with new...blood."
Definitely interesting to hear that there's a bit of upheaval going on, but that's never a bad thing. Need fresh blood every couple of years or the event will become stale.

That said, a few of the old favorites will be sticking around. Unless they're going to change things suddenly, it would appear that the Wolf Pack house will be back this year as well. The haunt is still pretty much 100% intact as of our last visit to the park.

In addition to this Holiday Horror will be returning for it's third year as well, confirmed via the park as well.

Now, onto what these new houses are all about! Well, the folks at Screamscape had a bit more information regarding them to fill in the blanks for us:
  • “Board To Death” is a new maze with an evil board game theme, just think of it as Jumanji with lots of blood, gore and boobytraps.
  • “Delta Delta Die” will take you inside the ultimate college rush party... one you may not survive.
  • “Backwoods Bayou” is fairly self explanatory... as any haunt with banjo music is always of great concern.
So, there ya have it...three new haunts and some pretty unique ideas going on with them. It also seems that the "Bayou" theme has really hit it's stride lately with a lot of haunts out there. I'm not overly surprised as there's quite a bit one can play with there.

We're not sure if this year's Halloween Haunt will make our list, but in the case it does, we'll be sure to bring you our review of the event. If not, we'll see who we know that's going to to get a few impressions as well!
