[Japan] Charge Your EV with a little Evangelion Style

Seems like just a bit ago I was saying that Japan just keeps doing cooler and cooler shit. Well, once again it seems that's the case. This time? Panasonic has rolled out Evangalion themed charging stations in Hakone, Japan which is really the site of Tokyo-3 in the series.

IT Media has reported that this is part of a joint Evangelion and environmental awareness campaign. So far there's only two charging stations out there in the wild, Eva Unit 01 and 02, but there are a lot more planned throughout the region as well.

Unfortunately, there's no indication that this is going to be rolled out throughout the country. However, I wouldn't be surprised if other areas of Japan get themed stations for the anime that's linked to the region either. Though, I'm not sure I'd trust a Lucky Star themed charger...it might get bored and stop charging to play video games, read manga or watch anime...

As you can see, Hakone will probably be getting at least the rest of the set as Panasonic has teased these models coming as well. How widespread in the area will they be? That's really anyone's guess and no clue if there will even be duplicates. Either way, pretty cool stuff.

Here's a closer look at the two stations that are out there now:

And yep, there's another in the wild!
