[Manga] Ah! My Goddess Comes to an End

Okay, wow. First the news of The World God Only Knows coming to end and now this less than 24 hours later? Good lord, what's this world coming to?!

Anime News Network has reported that the upcoming May issue of Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon will be announcing that Kousuke Fujishima is ending his Aa Megami-sama (Ah! My Goddess/Oh My Goddess!) manga in the following issue on April 25. Also stated is that the June issue will also have a "super-important announcement."

The 48th and final manga volume will have a 5,000 yen deluxe Limited-Edition Final Box, which comes out on July 23rd. It will include a bunch of goodies aside from the the manga volume itself, such as an original drama CD, titled "another ending Ver.". This CD will tell a story that is "a little different from the manga" with the anime adaptation's four main cast members (Masami Kikuchi as Keiichi Morisato, Kikuko Inoue as Belldandy, Yumi Touma as Urd, Aya Hisakawa as Skuld) and others reprising their roles.

Also included in the box set will be a full-color, miniature 1 to 4 no Aida (Between 1 and 4) book with four parts, a full-color booklet with a long interview with Fujishima on his 25 years of memories, and a set of 12 reproduction art pieces (including 10 never included in art collection books before). The staff is encouraging fans to send their own messages via postage mail or email by May 3 and they've teased that these messages will be included on the CD or booklet.

It's hard to image that after 25 years (well technically 26), that one of the staples of many anime fans lives is coming to a close. I'm just as shocked as many of you probably are, but I guess all good things must come to end. At least we still have the three anime series, OVAs, specials and everything else.

Sad to see this one go...
