[Gaming] Wildstar Open Beta Coming This Week!

Okay, +Carrie H.C. and I have been riding on the hype train for quite a while with this one and though it's not my usual thing to talk about, just can't pass it up. The past couple of weeks we've both been able to get our hands dirty during both beta weekends and from what we've experienced, definitely going to be picking this one up. But if you haven't played, never fear...

Now, it seems as if Carbine is ready to open the flood gates for the Open Beta period. Starting at 7am (PDT) on May 8th and running clear until 11:59 (PDT) on the 18th, Nexus will be live and waiting for anyone that's looking to get a good look at the game and what it's all about.

Those that have been involved in previous beta weekends or stress tests only have to patch up their version and will be all set. Those new to the bizarre and crazy world of Wildstar will have to head over to the Open Beta Page on the Wildstar website and get a key. Yeah, that's pretty much it.

Oh yeah, there's a few new additions to this go around as well. Here's the official list of all the shiny newness that'll be available for players over the 10 day period:

• Farside – You ever want to go to the moon and float around while swinging a massive sword into badass, vicious, people eating extra-terrestrials? Me too. Now you that you’ve hit level 30, travel to Farside and get some space between you and the planet Nexus.

• Galeras Adventure – Tower defense just became a whole lot more epic. You and four friends are all that stands between an invading force and holding the fort before reinforcements can arrive. The opposing faction is going to throw everything they’ve got against you: Tanks, missile strikes, snipers, stealth assassins, and some hulking military commandos are trying to make your life hell while you are holding for reinforcements… maybe you should return the favor and kick some ass, cupcake!

• Two New Abilities – Kicking ass is pretty awesome. Now you can kick MORE ass with two new abilities that are unlocked for your class at level 30.

• New Ability Slot – Hot damn, at level 30 you can unlock the final ability slot! Why don’t you buy a new ability and throw that into your brutality rotation!

• Tier Points – Power up your abilities to continue to become an even bigger ass kicker. Or don’t. Whatever, that’s cool too.

Definitely looks like a fun time and tons of new things to explore and experience this time around. I know that I'll be checking out the Galeras Adventure and Farside for sure, if I get up to level 30 that is...currently only sulking around at level 15. Either way, should be great fun exploring Nexus once again!
