[HHN27] Check into The Overlook Hotel as Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Brings "The Shining" to Life

As per the usual, it's never too early to start making for Halloween, and the folks at Universal aren't letting their guard down one bit as they invite everyone to take a nice, relaxing, trip to The Overlook Hotel for this year's Halloween Horror Nights.

So, just what can we expect from this one? Well, thankfully the folks from Universal have decided to give us a little lowdown on just that...
"“The Shining” maze at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights will provide guests with a unique opportunity to relive some of the film’s most iconic, and sinister, moments.  While venturing through the eerie Overlook Hotel, guests will be thrust into the hotel’s tragic history of murder and madness, bearing witness to caretaker Jack Torrance’s spiraling descent into insanity.  Nightmarish visions will come to life in this macabre maze, overwhelming guests with the “shine” of the murderous, ghostly entities that lurk around every turn – all while trying to escape the wrath of Jack Torrance as he violently succumbs to the hotel’s paranormal forces."

Admittedly, I'm happy that they're going with expanding on a few things here because if we're honest, there's just not much to really pull from to do a whole maze that isn't a very slow build up and I don't know how well that'd go over.

Still, I'm a bit surprised by this one. I mean, sure, The Shining is a horror classic, but it's not your typical horror movie either. The slow burn nature of it has me scratching my head as to just how they're going to about making this experience work for a haunted house, even with the above information. There's a few scenes that come to mind that they could replicate, but are they really going to include the bear scene? I mean...if they do, major kudos.

Either way, going to be keeping my eye out on any development on this one to see just what they could be up to regarding things. Mostly my own morbid curiosity on just how the team is gonna pull it off.

Stay tuned for more haunt news from Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights and tons of other haunts as we get closer to the best time of year, haunt season!
