[Anime]/Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san - If the Little Mermaid was drawn on Acid

Yeah, that headline about speaks it all. This show is mental. Sure it's only a "short" in the sense that the first episode was a grand total of 12 minutes and there were two of them in there, but what a ride it was. Both of us here at Kitsuneverse HQ were looking forward to this since I the first writing about the show.

This one's definitely not for the kiddies either as there are all kinds of "adultish" references being tossed about...(especially at the end of the episode!) along with sexual innuendo. Then again, this is a late night anime so not really shocked there at all.

The speed is pretty good for a short as well, not too fast and not too drawn out that you feel like there should be more. We'll see if that continues or not but so far so good there on the pacing of things. They also didn't speed up the voice work either, which is nice (see the insanity that was Teekyu! for that).

Either way, not bad so far. The animation is a bit more homegrown looking in a lot of places and they like to mix in some stylized stills during a few actiony moments, but overall the humor is great and already the gags have been timed extremely well. Myself and CK were laughing our asses off while watching the premiere episode.

Overall, this one is definitely a winner out of the Spring season already, at least for us. I mean what's not to like about an alcoholic troll-ish mermaid causing some poor high school kid headaches constantly?

Shame that it's so short but hey, what can ya do right?

You can catch (no pun intended) the show on Crunchyroll for a new episode every Saturday afternoon!
