[Haunts] The 6 Ways of Terror at Hundreds Acres Manor

Time for another local one to us here, only about an hour away and just outside of Pittsburgh, PA in Bethel Park. Hundred Acres Manor redefines the idea of a "charity haunt" in nearly every way imaginable. Whatever it is they're doing...they shouldn't stop any time soon!

With only one day til their opening, that's right they open tomorrow, Friday the 13th, let's take a look at what one of the countries top haunts is bringing to the table for the 2013 season shall we?

Carrie and I visited a few years ago and I have to say, we were definitely impressed with the show that they put on. So much so that we're going back for another taste this year during Haunt Tour 2013. That said, these folks have to put together one of the best themed haunts I've seen. You go through so many different scenery changes that you forget you're still on the same planet.

UPDATE: Read our full review of this amazing haunt right here!

Again, if you're looking for an early start to this year's haunt season you should definitely take a swing down tomorrow night. Not many in the area are open yet and it's a great time of year to get things moving in the right direction.

The gates open around dusk (7pm) and while you can't buy tickets after 11:30pm, if you're in line you'll get through...they're open til the last victim enters their nightmare fueled world.

So, let's take a peek at what this year's event holds for those brave enough to enter the Hundred Acres Manor!

Board a century old elevator to take you to the depths of the Acres family estate and experience a hellish ride to the bowels of the horror within the manor. The first of its kind in Pittsburgh, Dead Lift will send you whipping around and begging for mercy. Discovered during excavation of the estate; the Dead Lift elevators were originally used to transport guests and staff from the families quarters to the manors deepest secrets hidden within the basement.

I'm getting the feeling of the elevator in Kennywood Park's Noah's Ark here for some reason, the idea fascinates me greatly. That and it's got a fun historical mystery thing lurking in the background two. If that's the way of things, then color me intrigued to see just what this one's all about...

Enter the dilapidated acres family estate and experience the terrifying world of the lost souls buried deep within the manor walls. Traverse the manor room by room and see what makes Hundred Acres Manor Pittsburgh’s Top Haunted Attraction. During your journey you will encounter the most grizzly zombies, bloodthirsty minions of the night, and the restless spirits damned to spend eternity confined within the manor compound. Prepare for the most relentless, mind-bending journey through hell on earth.

Ah, the classic haunted mansion...but this one's sounding a bit more extreme than you're typical Ghost Hunters episode. When was the last time you saw those guys go up against zombies and minions of the night? Yeah, didn't think so...

Let us pick your brain in the most intense, in your face, run for your life, scream bloody murder, haunted attraction on the acres family estate. South Valley hospital was opened to the public in 1904 as Pittsburgh’s premier medical research facility. The hospital was closed in December of 1932 and has been abandoned ever since. When the hospital was closed they found the most shocking and brutal display of disregard towards human life. Some say the tortured patients and doctors still reside within the hospitals compounds just waiting for their next patient. Let us cut you open and see if you can withstand the horror and terror of South Valley.

Yeah, this place definitely isn't going to be supported by Obamacare anytime soon, call me crazy on that one. The age old favorite of the hospital gone wrong and this one's definitely gone south. If you're feeling under the weather, I'd skip this one...you're better off at the ER in your local town....

The year was 1945; a time of mass hysteria and shear terror as our country was under constant threat of nuclear attack. A plan was quickly set into motion and a site was chosen on the Acres family estate to construct a Fall Out shelter of mass proportions. The complex lies 650 feet beneath the earths surface. After time they began to do anything to survive.

A family that lives together, eats together, and your on the menu!

This is like the ultimate nightmare scenario for preppers out there. Actually, I'm surprised this one hasn't been done as a movie yet. The concept is really great and I can only imagine the hell that awaits anyone that stumbles across this family's bunker...

Feel the terror begin to overwhelm your body as you attempt to navigate your way through our all NEW 7,500 square foot maze from hell. Which way to go? Choose your direction and choose it wisely, chainsaw wielding maniacs among other undead creatures roam the premises. The maze will leave you in the dark feeling cold and disoriented! Don’t bother asking our minions for directions, the only thing they wanna do is hear you scream.

Oh god, this thing. I remember this from the first time we dropped in on Hundred Acres Manor. We got so lost it almost became frustrating...figuring the way out of the one back then was hard enough. I can't even begin to imagine what this one is going to be like...7,500 square feet is huge!

Originally opened as a butcher shop for the families of the estate, this slaughterhouse turned into a processing plant for the whole town. Enter the bowels of the Brine Slaughterhouse and witness the unspeakable horrors that await. Your turn of this turn of the century slaughterhouse will unveil torture, gore and more.

But beware; legend has it that Mr. Brine still walks the halls of this now-abandoned meat processing plant, with an insatiable appetite for human flesh.

Who doesn't love some long pork, eh? Okay...most folks don't. Even more so when they're the ones being served up as the fresh cuts of the day. That said, I can't remember if this one was around when we were there, but I like the sounds of it. Slaughter House themes are always full of chaos and insanity...so I'm down with that.

And there ya have it. Everything you can expect to terrify you at this year's Hundred Acres Manor in Bethel Park, PA. It's looking like a great year for them all around and I personally can't wait to see how they've ramped things up for 2013.
