The WiiU points system is finally understood a bit more and to be honest it's really not a bad deal if you really think about it. At first it seems a bit confusing but in reality it's pretty simple and a pretty sweet deal for those who plan to buy a decent amount of content for the system. However, it's only for those who bought the Premium System (The black WiiU for $349).
Basically it breaks down like this: Spend $59.99 on a game, get about 10% back. Which is then converted to 599 points. Every 500 points=$5.00 with 99 left over. So, if you buy 5 games at $59.99 you end up with 2995 points that can be used on the WiiU or 3DS online stores. So buy 5 games, get 50% off a game or even more if you happen to be buying DLC and older games as well from the eShop.
This will run from the release of the system on Nov 18th through the end of 2014. After that you have to activate the points by June 30th, 2015. Good thing is they never expire either. That's quite a long time to acquire some serious levels of points and get some stuff for free.
Say what you will, but this is a pretty sweet deal for those who ponied up the extra $50 to get the premium system.
