[Anime First Look]/Nyaruko-san W - Chaos Comes Crawling Back

Second seasons can be weird, even more weird when you're dealing with the legend and mythos that is Cthulhu and the Elder Gods. That said, the premiere episode of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W really knocked it out of the park in our eyes. Not only did the opening have a spoof of a classic sitcom, but the show itself became self aware. Sure that can be a hit or miss thing for some, but considering that this is a parody of the horror genre and just about anything else they can get their hands on? It's definitely a good thing...and the whole gang is back, along with the universe's most deadly weapon...forks.

I won't spoil the opening sequence for those who haven't seen it yet but it definitely calls back to older sitcoms that dominated the US market. In fact, I wasn't aware that it was that popular or iconic in Japan at all but it must be. That or at least the staff knows it and gets a kick out of it.

Either way, the production values from the first season are up to snuff and they've even pulled out a few new tricks to spice things up. It's always nice to see things improving and I'm sure you've already guessed that I'm going to say the same thing about how the writing and voice acting is. If you guessed that I would, then you're right. They're both up to snuff and the writing has even gotten better from what I can see. Yes, there's a long way to go, but I'm positive that this one will keep up the momentum like it did with it's first season.
