Yep, Nintendo is just full of surprises lately. Not only did they announce a major partnership with Universal Studios theme parks, but they've also given out the details on a special live event for their anticipated multiplayer paintball shooter, Splatoon, which comes out on the Wii U May 29th.
You read that right, they're staging a live Splatoon event at Santa Monica Pier in just 8 days on May 15th from 11am to 7pm. Sadly, however, it's not for just anyone to play. For now they've just invited teams celebrities and other notable folks to take to the madness and make a huge mess of themselves, the arena, and other challenges that they'll be put to task on on their journey into colored ink insanity.
Don't feel too left out though, some lucky fans will get the chance to participate as well, but as of right now there's no word on just how that will work. Those who do go to watch the craziness of it all first hand will get some perks as well though. Not only will they get special Splatoon t-shirts (while supplies last), but they'll also get a chance to experience the game's Turf War multiplayer mode on the Wii U.
Can't make it out to Santa Monica or live nowhere near it? No worries, you can follow along via Nintendo's various social media outlets for live updates throughout the day. I, for one, wish I was a bit closer since this sounds like a ton of fun!
