[Anime] Toonami and Studio I.G. to Co-Produce Two New Seasons of FLCL

Okay, this one came out of nowhere in the past couple of days, but it's pretty awesome none the less. It looks like the adventures of Naota and Haruko are set to continue thanks to the folks over at Adult Swim's Toonami in partnership with Studio I.G.

Going with tradition of the original 6 episode run, each of the two new seasons will consist of 6 episodes as well, totaling 12 all together. So, what's it all going to be about? Well, thanks to the folks over at Toonami, we have a little info on that for you.
In the new season of FLCL, many years have passed since Naota and Haruhara Haruko shared their adventure together. Meanwhile, the war between the two entities known as Medical Mechanica and Fraternity rages across the galaxy. Enter Hidomi, a young teenaged girl who believes there is nothing amazing to expect from her average life, until one day when a new teacher named Haruko arrives at her school. Soon enough, Medical Mechanica is attacking her town and Hidomi discovers a secret within her that could save everyone, a secret that only Haruko can unlock.

But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot ‘Canti’ go?
From the sounds of it, things are going to get really interesting and explain a little of the chaos that many fans were left questioning from the original 6 episodes that aired way back in 2001-2002. It's been a long time, and we're finally getting the much deserved continuation in late 2017, early 2018.

Yes, that's a little ways off, but it's hard to argue with the idea getting new FLCL here. Definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one as more news comes out over the next year or so and I'll be sure to bring you the latest as I get it!
