[Japan]/Mili-Cafe, Lolita+Military? Why Not!

Over this past weekend Akihabara's Maid in Angels (MIA), MiaKafe, teamed up with air soft enthusiast group, Hyper Douraku, to create a military themed cafe!

Now, I'm not exactly sure what they were going for with just a weekend event nor can I find any connection to any kind of anniversary to celebrate from the wars, the cafe or the Hyper Douraku group. So, yeah...it seems a bit weird and out there on the surface but as I always say, "There's always a reason to throw a party, even if the party is the reason."

This isn't exactly a random thing either, there are tons of airsoft/military otaku groups in Japan and they are feverishly into having large mock battles and reenacting all countries from past wars. I've seen some of this over the years and the passion and insanity is well up there for everyone involved. It's also not even the first time that Hyper Douraku has mixed lolita and military sensibilities either...

It's also interesting that they went with a fairly generic route with things and didn't try to tie in any military anime at all. It's not like there's a shortage of the stuff but maybe that's more a licensing issue and they just figured that the generic look was the way to go. Maybe they just wanted it to be that way? Hard to say. Either way, Hyper Douraku and Miakafe teamed up to redo the old place with some "American Style" flare...and food.

That said, here's a ton of pictures (after the break of course).

Even one of Combat Arm's managers got involved!
