[Cosplay] Anime Central to Host World Cosplay Summit US Finals in 2014!

In a press release issued by Anime Central and the WCS this morning, it was announced that the US Finals for the 2014 WCS will be hosted at Anime Central, May 16-18th in 2014. Pairs cosplay teams from qualifying rounds across the country will appear, showcasing the best American craftsmanship and stage performances.

In 2013, the midwest qualifier and US Final were held at Anime Matsuri in Houston, TX. The winners of the final round of the US leg of the competition will represent the United States in Nagoya, Japan later in the year in a televised event.

This year, Anime Central gives the finals a "true home" as it is one of the largest and longest running anime conventions in the country, running for over 15 years and counting. Held in Rosemont, IL, the event's goal is to bring together fans and industry figures from anime, manga, video gaming, cinema and pop culture, bridging the gap between America and Japan.

In a letter to ACEN attendees, Laura Butler had to this say about the event and what to expect:

"The Nation Finals are where pairs-teams from across the country bring their best costume craftsmanship and short skits to the stage and compete for the honor to represent the United States internationally! It is a unique opportunity for cosplayers and fans alike, as we will be witnessing some of the most skillful cosplay and impressive performances. See characters from your favorite anime, manga and video games brought to life like never before!"

Last year's pair from the US, Cassandra May and Tiffany Tezna, managed to finish in 2nd place and also capturing the Special Award, but Italy once again came out on top. Brazil and Italy have been the dominate countries since the start of the WCS in 2005, each winning 3 titles.
