[Haunts] Brighton Asylum Announces Two Escape Room Experiences and a Whole New Haunt for 2015!

Just earlier today the folks at Brighton Asylum announced some major changes coming to 2015's show. Not only have they completely revamped the main haunt, but they've also added an entire second attraction as well as two escape room experiences as well. That's a lot to try and wrap one's head around. So, let's get down to the details of things.

First up, the new haunted attraction coming to Brighton Asylum, The Tunnel.

Here's the official rundown from the announcement;
For the first time ever, descend deep under the brick and mortar of Brighton Asylum and explore the long forgotten tunnel system that once allowed its staff to move undetected beneath the grounds. Once a brilliantly devised underground system, over time became a breeding ground for unsanctioned patient experiments, living quarters for staff gone mad, and attempted patient escapes and hiding. Some say that the Tunnels became just as dangerous as Brighton Asylum itself, if not more so.  Those brave enough to explore the forgotten tunnel system are never seen nor heard from again…
This one's interesting, and sounds fairly straightforward by the name and the theme. Though, what they've got lurking down there? That's anyone's guess. I'm not sure if this is really underneath the building or what, but if it is? Yikes, gonna get crazy down there and I'm totally down with that.

UPDATE: They're not saying just what's up with this one, I can't argue with that at all. From the sounds of it, they've put in a ton of work on this one and should be a blast for fans and newcomers alike!

Up next, the two Escape Room experiences. These things have gotten insanely popular and several haunts are incorporating them into their attractions by putting a twist on traditional experience. No doubt, the folks at Brighton Asylum, have something nuts up their sleeves for these two. However, I do have some concerns as well.

"You are trapped in a room, but you aren’t alone!  You have only minutes to escape before the biters in there with you get loose and turn you into the undead!

The clock is ticking and every second counts.  Solve the clues to your escape and get out before the timer runs out!"

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for you on this one. Doesn't sound like it'll take too long on this one either. Not sure though, details are a bit vague on things. But, if one doesn't fulfill your desires, there's another just around the corner.

"You woke up in an old, abandoned laboratory without any clue as to how you got there.  The doors are locked with no visible way out.  A countdown timer shows you have just minutes to escape before the doors are permanently locked, trapping you inside!

Solve the clues provided and get out in the nick of time, or be trapped forever."

Again, vague on the timing here and I'm having some reservations about that, amongst other things. I did do a bit of digging, but can't seem to find anything at all for how much time you should budget for this. That said, Escape Rooms typically take 30-45min at least on their timers, but I'm doubtful that these will take anywhere near that long from what info they've given.

Also, the fact that you also must have exactly 4 people and can only experience them with purchasing tickets to the the main haunt also makes me cringe a bit. It's additional attraction, not just an up charge. Sure, it's only an extra $5 ($8 for quicker access) but still...why not just go all out with it?

UPDATE: Okay, we've gotten a bit more clarification on this one. Each Escape Room experience only lasts for about 4minutes. Yeah, not a ton of time, but should provide a fairly frantic and tense experience. I still think it's a bit short, but smaller bursts of things can work too, Dorney Park proved that last year with their Skeleton Key rooms. That said, they do also plan to open up these after this year's haunt season for a more traditional hour long experience as well. So, definitely gonna want to check that out if you can't do either of the smaller teasers.

I get the issues they have with their space, and parking, as you can read down there in the comments (well you could if things didn't go all insane with the site) and sure, they could still be a lot of fun. So, hopefully we can get out there to see it first hand during this year's Haunt Tour, maybe my mind will be changed. Who knows, right? For now though, I'm sticking with my earlier comment that I still think that what Hundred Acres Manor is doing is the better way, just a gut feeling there. We'll see! Then again, maybe both will be cool!

This year's event kicks off on Friday, September 25th and runs on select night through November 1st. You can find out more info, get advanced tickets and more via the official Brighton Asylum website!
